Reminding the 9th September, 1992 when a span of Akhnoor steel bridge was washed away in the flood, the furious river Chenab has risen even higher to the earlier level and touching the raised level of present bridge causing it a serious threat. The present bridge was given more height than the earlier one but in spite of that, the bridge is not threat free.
The administration has closed the bridge for traffic and has issued red alert in the Pargwal Sector of Tehsil Akhnoor. The situation is being watched and people have been accordingly warned.
