AJKCA initiates Jammu Chess League

JAMMU: Involving eight newly established identities, each having five players, the All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association (AJKCA) today announced the launch of Jammu Chess League. The event shall take place in the Winter Capital city of the State in the month of December.
Without going into the public to attract interested franchise, the association has, however, allotted almost all the eight teams either to the office bearers or members of the chess body.
The event, first of its kind, shall be conducted in round robin system, following the guidelines of the international chess.
“The event shall take place at Press Club of Jammu from December 7 to 10 with all eight teams taking on each other on round robin basis,” informed President of AJKCA, Atul Kumar Gupta, in a media interaction, here today.
“We have fixed October 13 as the last date for sending consent. It will be followed by the screening of the players and final, followed by the final selection on October 14 at the premises of Hotel Nek, Below Gumat, here,” disclosed Chief Organiser of the League, Kuljeet Singh Jamwal.
Organisers have fixed the cash prizes as also other prizes but the amount for such hounours was yet to be fixed.
The participating eight teams are Chess Champs (Taranvir Singh), Chess Tigers (Kuljeet Singh Jamwal), Jammu Chess Fighters (Baldev Raj), Kings and Queens (Dr. AS Bhatia), Queen and Knight (Raj Kumar), B&W (Rakesh Gupta), White Knights (Atul Kumar Gupta) and Chess Aces (Sanjeev Gupta).
