JAMMU: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) welcomed Governor’s rule in the State of Jammu and Kashmir imposed due to fractured verdict in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
Addressing a meeting, President Inderjeet Khajuria said that in the public interest, the State should remain under Governor’s rule till a stable and viable government is formed. Khajuria urged the Governor to ensure resumption of execution of works on the otherwise stalled tourism related Jammu Mega Projects including Artificial Lake Project on Tawi river; Mubarak Mandi-Bahu Fort Cable Car Project; Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex; Inter State Bus Terminal with multistoried shopping-cum-parking complex; Hari Singh Park up-gradation; Airport Jammu; up-gradation of Manda Wild Life Sanctuary to the level of National Park; Mono Rail Project; development of wet lands at Mansar and Surinsar; Ambaran Buddhist site, new lover site (Soni-Mahiwal place) at Hamirpur-Sidhar, Khour; Water-cum-Amusement Park at Bhour Camp and Excel World at Bhour Camp.
While enumerating, the places of tourist attraction, Khajuria expressed his dissatisfaction claiming that the exploitation of tourism potential has always remained a problem otherwise there is no dearth of attractive avenues of tourist importance in Jammu province.
Speaking further, Khajuria expressed his concern on false promises made by politicians on different occasions with the tourism related traders in Jammu who are confronting a grave financial crisis due to highjacking of their trade as a result of train-link extension to Katra, diversion of light vehicles and buses from Kunjwani bypass, restriction imposed on the entry of Inter State Buses in General Bus Stand, Jammu and excessive traffic police Nakkas. Khajuria appealed to the Governor for intervening in the matter and help Jammu to become an independent tourist destination for the betterment of State.
Others who were present in the meeting include Pawan Gupta, Baldev Raj, Harbans Singh, Bikram Singh, Sunil Suri and M.L Sharma.
