Ajay lifts 53rd Amarnath Maha Dangal title

UDHAMPUR: Wrestler Ajay of Udhampur clinched the 53th Annual Amarnath Memorial Maha Dangal -2015 by beating wrestler Nisar of Doda in the main bout at Sports Stadium Subhash Nagar, Udhampur here on Monday.
Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The wrestling matches were organized by Amar Nath Dangal Committee in collaboration with Mukti Youth Club (MYC), Udhampur and J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association of India.
As many as, 25 bouts were held during the wrestling match with participation of about 50 wrestlers from within and outside the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Gupta lauded the efforts of organizers for holding Dangal at Udhampur every year which boosts the morale of wrestlers besides providing a source of entertainment to common people. He said events also keep the wrestlers physically fit and mentally sound adding that healthy persons could also contribute in shaping the future of the society in a better way.
Later, the minister honoured winner of the match with an award of Rs. 5,500 and Silver Gooraj while as runner up of the match was given Rs. 4,500 cash prize.
Chairman of Dangal Committee, Geeta Devi, extended gratitude to all those who gave financial and physical support in smooth conduct of the Wrestling match.
Vijay Singh (Viju), Mohd. Fareed, Laxman Singh and Prakash Verma gave technical assistance in the event.
Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence, Swatantra Dev Kotwal conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Among others, President of J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association(ISWA), Shiv Kumar Sharma, Chairman Amar Nath Dangal Committee, Udhampur Geeta Devi, President, Mukti Youth Club, Ranjeet Kumar, Special Invitee to J&K ISWA, Virender Sharma, Gen. Secretary, AMMDC, Sansar Chand, Vice President MYC, Javed Iqbal, Prominent persons Chander Mohan Sharma, Ram Parshotam Sharma, Vikram Singh Slathia, Raj Guru, Sham Kalsotra, Sports lovers and spectators in thousands also witnessed the Dangal.
