STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: Member Legislative Council, Maharaj Kumar Ajatshatru Singh demanded immediate relief and proper settlement for Shikarawalas as the community has been badly hit by the recent floods in Kashmir Valley.
Ajatshatru visited the world famous Dal Lake and interacted with Shikarawalas, who had gathered there to congratulate him for his fresh term as Member Legislative Council.
Terming Ajatshatru as their ‘advocate’ for highlighting their long pending demands, the Shikarawalas expressed their indebtedness to him for various welfare works that he took up when he was Tourism Minister in the State.
Shikarawalas submitted various representations and demanded that the registration office should be brought back to Srinagar as it is very inconvenient for them to get their registration from the present location. They further demanded that the license should be renewed for a period of five years so that they are saved from unnecessary harassment. They also expressed their resentment on licenses being issued to non-Shikarawalas while denial for the same for their wards. They also demanded that they should be allotted plots in vicinity of the lake so that they are able to run their business in a smooth manner. They asked Ajatshatru to represent their case before the government so that they are settled at the earliest.
The Shikarawalas also apprised the MLC about the loss being incurred during the floods.
Ajatshatru assured that he will take up all the issues with the concerned ministries so that genuine demands of Shikarawalas are met at the earliest.
