JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) President, and Chairman of AIIMS Coordination Committee, Abhinav Sharma on Friday said that he wanted to make it loud and clear that the ongoing agitation for the establishment of AIIMS and completion of artificial lake project over Tawi in Jammu is purely a people’s movement supported by all.
“The agitation is not guided by any political party. The JKHCBA took the initiative at the insistence of the people of Jammu and the entire spectrum of civil society organisations of the province for the protection and promotion of the Jammu cause.
The AIIMS Coordination Committee is determined to take the agitation to its logical conclusion and warns the ruling alliance in Jammu and Kashmir to pay immediate heed to the sentiment, genuine and legitimate demand of the people of Jammu and to concede both the popular demands before it is too late,” he said in statement, adding “the coalition will be wholly and solely responsible if it dithers and delays its decision to restore the decision of setting up of AIIMS in Jammu as also to bring the Tawi lake project to completion”.
The AIIMS Coordination Committee has, he said, asked the elected representatives from Jammu province to take the people of Jammu very seriously and immediately make their stand clear that they will side with the masses of Jammu in the matter rather than the whims and aspirations of those who want to discriminate the people of Jammu.
“The massive Bandh in Jammu on May 27 was a clear message not only to the ruling alliance in the state but also to the Central Government, as also to the elected MLAs from Jammu,” said Abhinav Sharma. He further added that the “People will not take the betrayal with the cause of Jammu lying down and will punish decisively all those forces which have connived to indulge in acts of treachery with the people of Jammu province”.
The AIIMS Coordination Committee, he said, will meet on Monday in the premises of Jammu Bar (High Court) at 12 O’clock to take stock of the situation and decide about the future course of action to force the vindictive authorities in the state and at the Centre to concede the demands forthwith. The Coordination Committee is, he further said, already fully aware of the reasons for which Jammu has been denied the AIIMS project after having been declared for Jammu. “It is fully conscious of the machinations of the hegemonic and anti-democratic forces operating in the state with the patronage of power echelons in New Delhi.
The AIIMS Coordination Committee is also aware of the broader ramifications of the Agenda of Alliance which it considers as an Agenda of Betrayal of the national interests as well as the patriotic and nationalist people of Jammu,” he said, adding that the patience of the people of Jammu province has ran out and they wanted an end to the discriminatory policies with them once and for all.
