AIBCU demands implementation of Mandal Report
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) on Friday demanded that Mandal Commission report should be implemented in the State for eliminating the sufferings of Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
The demand came to fore in a meeting of the union held here under its president AIBCU Abdul Majid Malik.
The meeting said that it is unfortunate that due to non-formation of popular Government on account of fractured mandate, Governor’s Rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir. The speakers said that on account of change in power the State Governor N.N Vohra and Prime Minister Narinder Modi should implement Mandal Commission Report in the State by adjusting reservations of RBA and ALC by horizontal reservation under Para 95 of the Apex Court’s Judgment of 1992 on Mandal Report which speaks of horizontal reservation under Article 16(1) of the Indian Constitution.
The meeting said that this is the right time for the Government to fulfill the demands of the State OBCs as they have already suffered a lot in the hands of NC and Congress in the State.
H.D Betab, Kabir Qureshi, Gh. Rasool, Sandokh Chand, Abdul Rashid Malik, Master Sain Dass, Bodh Raj, Rajinder Singh, T.R Changotra, Puran Chadgotra and Prof. Kali Dass also spoke on the occasion.
