STATE TIMES NEWS
KATHUA: Yudhvir Sehti, J&K BJP Vice President said that agricultural reforms brought new opportunities to farmers as new rights were accorded to them.
“These reforms have not only broken shackles of farmers but they have also been given new rights and more opportunities,” Sethi said while addressing a Kissan Sammelan in Hiranagar area of Kathua District on the occasion of birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee which is observed as Sushasan Diwas. The programme started with paying of glorious tributes to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 96th birth anniversary.
The senior BJP leader slammed the opposition for misleading the farmers in the country by propagating blatant lies about the farm bills. He asserted that the Parliament has passed the farm ordinances after a rigorous brainstorming. “Under this law, it was decided that all dues of the farmers should be cleared within three days of procurement, failing which, the farmer can lodge a complaint,” he said, adding “Another notable aspect of this law is that the area Sub Divisional Magistrate has to ensure grievance redressal of the farmer within one month.”
Sethi reiterated that BJP government at the Centre has taken revolutionary steps for the benefit of farmers including Crop Insurance Scheme, PM Agricultural Irrigation Scheme, has done the work of linking farming with technology. Along with this, through the ‘One Nation One Market’, the work of selling produce of farmers has been done, he said.
While blaming the opposition parties, Sethi said that Congress and other parties have only confused the farmers on different fronts. “Initiation of Farm bills will introduce the modern technology and open buying and selling market for the farmers wherein they would have the luxury of selling their production anywhere in the nation,” he said.
Sethi said that some political parties are trying to spoil the atmosphere, especially the present stand taken by them on model APMC Act shows their double standards.
He said that the BJP Government is committed for the upliftment of the farming community and the new Farm Bills are in favour of farmers, giving freedom to sell their produce and get fair price and on terms.
Jungvir Singh Cheeko, Seh Prabhari, BJP Kathua, Thakur Ranjeent Singh, Kiran Attri, Rajinder Bakshi and others also spoke during the programme.
