JAMMU: Host Air Force Station (AFS) Jammu lifted the Western Air Command (WAC) Inter Area Hockey Championship 2017-18 played at KK Hakku Stadium, here.
In the final, AFS Jammu defeated defending champion AFS Adampur in a well contested match.
A total of four teams from WAC i.e. Jammu, Ambala, Adampur and Halwara participated for the coveted championship.
“The aim of the event was to promote sportsmanship in hockey and select players to refine skills for further participation in superior events at Air Force and national levels,” a handout issued by AFS Jammu said.
Air Force Station Jammu hosted this championship for the fifth consecutive year and the tournament was played in round robin format, it added.
Delegates of the tournament Chief Guest Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station Jammu declared the WAC Inter Area Hockey Championship closed with prize distribution.
