JAMMU: Air Force Station (AFS) Hindon won the Western Air Command Hockey Inter Area Championship 2015-16 by defeating Air Force Station Jammu in the final played at KK Hakku Stadium, here on Friday.
The championship, in which teams from Western Air Command, i.e., Jammu, Ambala, Adampur, Pathankot and Hindon participated, was hosted by Air Force Station Jammu.
“The aim of the event was to promote sportsmanship in hockey and select players to refine skills for further participation in superior events at Air Force and National levels,” said Lt Col Manish Mehta, PRO Defence.
“The Western Air Command Hockey team is presently the champion team among all Air Force Commands,” he disclosed.
Divisional Sports Officer, J and K Sports Council, Rajan Sharma and various dignitaries witnessed the final match.
Air Commodore Ashutosh Lal, Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station Jammu declared the championship closed.
