Advocates set an example for social reform
Discouraging Dowry
JAMMU: In a revolutionary step of sorts, two prominent families of Jammu showed the way by solemnising a simple dowry less wedding on Sunday. The grandson of Late Justice Ishwar Singh Bakshi and son of Bharat Bhushan Bakshi, Advocate, Sameer Bakshi who is himself an advocate married Snigdha Shekher also an advocate, the grand daughter of M.M Khajooria, Director General of Police (retired) and daughter of Chander Shekher Gupta, Advocate and Seema Khajooria Shekher, Additional Advocate General, in a simple ceremony at Maharaj Krishan Ji temple, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. Both had come there for a Puja with their families and the elders of the family decided to solemnise the wedding itself the same day.
The simple ceremony was followed by tea and some snacks. Today, when lakhs of rupees are spent on ostentation and dowry, this is a ray of light for social reform.
