Advocate Thusoo’s translated version of Ramayana hits stands

JAMMU: Advocate M.L Thusoo’s English translation of Balmiki’s Ramayana hit stands on Tuesday. The book was released at a joint function organised by Jammu
Kashmir Nationalist Movement (JKNM) and Kashmir Hindu Conference (KHC) at Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra Bohri, here on Tuesday .
Chairman JKNM and intellectual Dr K.N Pandita was the Chief Guest while PK convener and a well known writer Dr Agnishekhar and senior journalist and Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.
The BJP MLCs Surindar Ambardar and Ajay Bharti were also present.
Former Excise Commissioner and a well known social activist Street Kensington Koul read a detailed paper on the book while P.L Koul Bulgaria, convener KHC
threw light on the book and life history of Advocate Thusoo.
P.N Pandita, former SSP managed the stage while the gathering comprised of intellectuals, KP leaders and social activists.
Dr Agnishekhar said Lord Ram is symbol of humanism who integrated India to fight out external invader Ravan.
Termining love for motherland more supreme than heaven, he said no one knows it better than exiled Pandits who have been forced to lead an exiled life by the enemies of humanity.
Asking that Ramayana and Mahabarta are soul of India, he said those who have not read it can’t know anything about India’s soul.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal highly eulogised the work and contribution of Advocate Thusoo.
He said elders like Advocate Thusoo can prove role models for the younger generations adding that Kashmir Pandit community has been highly inspired by the work of Advocate Thusoo.
He said his organisation has launched a crusade against drug abuse and appealed to the people to join the same to rid the society of this menace. This can be a real service to society as per the teachings of Lord Rama, he added.
Dr K.N Pandita said Lord Ram was a great humanist who left an example to follow.
”The day his teachings are taken in right sense by the people of this country all impediments in construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya will end”, he added.
He said even a great Muslim poet Dr Iqbal had described Lord Ram as Imam-e-Hind.
