Advocate General resigns

JAMMU: Keeping in view the high tradition of office and in order to facilitate the Government to appoint a new Advocate General after the Government formation, the Advocate General of the State D. C. Raina submitted his resignation as Advocate General to the Government, on Monday.
However, the government requested Raina to continue till a decision on his resignation is taken.
Meanwhile, D.C Raina, Advocate General of J and K State, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday. The Advocate General briefed the Governor about certain important cases on constitutional issues which are ongoing in the higher courts at Delhi. He also apprised the Governor about his appearance before the National Green Tribunal and about certain matters in regard to which he has advised further action by the concerned State Government Departments.
As per well established and respected conventions, Raina informed the Governor that he shall be putting in his papers.
