JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar has directed to make biometric attendance system mandatory for all government employees in Jammu division.
The step has been taken to ensure punctuality in all government offices.
“Government has issued various instructions from time to time to ensure punctuality in Government Offices but it has been reported through various quarters that punctuality is not being maintained,” reads a circular issued by Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Accordingly the circular added, “It is enjoined upon all controlling authorities that all the Government officers/officials working in various Offices/ Organizations in Jammu Division shall mark their attendance through Biometric Attendance System on daily basis.”
The Drawing & Disbursing Officers (DDOs) are enjoined upon not to entertain the salary bills of any Government Officers/Officials without corroborating the attendance on Biometric Attendance System, it stated and added, “The Deputy Commissioners/ Divisional Heads of the Departments of Jammu Division shall ensure that aforesaid instructions are adhered in letter and spirit.”
