‘Address striking teachers’ grievances’
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Former Minister and Senior Vice President National Conference, Surjeet Singh Slathia on Friday expressed concern over continued strike of teachers and decried the lackadaisical attitude of the government in resolving their grievances.
“It doesn’t augur well for the government to force the teachers to take to the streets, as not only the academic of children gets suffered but a wrong message also goes to the society”, Slathia said, hoping the concerned department will wake up from the deep slumber and address to their issues on immediate basis.
He questioned the rationale in the so-called ‘Transfer Melas’, saying this is a cover to justify the postings of favourites to their places of choice. He condemned the pick and chooses policy in effecting transfers, saying that the government must devise a pragmatic transfer policy, which is just and satisfactory for the entire teacher community.
The former minister exuded confidence that the government will appreciate the urgency of the matter and take effective measures to end the ongoing strike of teachers amicably.
