SRINAGAR: As the things are returning to pre-COVID levels, with the ebbing of third wave across the country, the Srinagar Airport will be introducing 10 more flights from June 26 ahead of coming Amarnath Yatra which are expected to boost further tourism and travel in the Union Territory. The enhancing of the aerial connectivity is also likely give impetus to the local economy and investment in the region. At present, Srinagar Airport is managing 54 flights daily carrying more than 16,000 passengers.
Kuldip Singh Rishi, the Director at the Srinagar Airport has said the traffic is “steadily increasing” and the growth is unprecedented.
“With the introduction of 10 more flights from Jun 26th, we will have more than 2000 additional seats available,” he tweeted. “We are in touch with all airlines to keep a check on the airfares.”
With the soaring temperatures triggering a better demand, the tickets have remained controlled for many months. Off late, however, there is an increase in ticket costs. Some reports suggest that in case the aviation fuel witnesses an increase in its costs, the ticket prices may get impacted.
Go First will introduce five additional direct flights to and from Srinagar to Delhi and two additional flights between Leh and Delhi in order to cater to the additional demand from the impending Amarnath Yatra on June 30.
“With the enhanced connectivity, these new flights will be offering travel options to the pilgrims. Go First currently operates nine flights daily between Delhi and Srinagar and five flights daily between Delhi and Leh,” the statement said.

Kashmir is witnessing a massive tourist season after a long time. Officials said more than 10 lakh tourists have visited Kashmir so far, a record in the last 12 years.
