Acts of religious intolerance, deeds of demons
Sunaina Malik
In today’s ambiance of commotion, fretfulness, dejection, trauma, thrust, covetousness and frustration, religious thoughts, religious places and religious books are the things, which grant us solace, consolation, calmness, contentment and bona fide bliss of heart and mind. There is a deep interconnection between origins of Homo sapiens and religion on the back of this planet. Religion creates a definite and predetermined platform for every human, which leads them towards the eternal triumph in both the worlds. Like seven colours of a rainbow, this world is also constituted of different groups of people believing in different faiths, e.g Christianity, Budisim, Jainism, Islam and Hinduism etc. As rainbow loses its very existence with the lose of its colours, similarly we cannot expect our world devoid of people, administered by diverse conviction in their lives, but there are certain notorious elements, mushrooming in our societies, who are spreading abhorrence by diluting the piousness of these holy places.
Pages of world history in general and Indian history in particular are filled with examples of religious intolerance, where religious emotions of a community are hurt by destroying, disrespecting and disturbing the religious assets. Indian society has been paying a big price for communal riots, which often arose, due to religious intolerance since independence. According to official figure provided, nearly 10,000 people have lost their precious lives during communal riots since 1950. In addition to this, there are about 6,933 instances of communal violence reported between 1954-1982 on the land of saints and prophets.
Not in India, but in the world at large, these unsocial, unscrupulous boorish, and callous elements enjoy, a mysterious contentment in hurting the religious emotions. Here my heart is howling with questions like, why time and again religious persons and religious scriptures are beleaguered, to avenge? Why humans have reached to such a level, that they have chosen religion to sting others? The religion is always for the betterment of humanity, and for the direction of haphazardly stirring human souls back on the path of humanity.
Those humans, rather beasts, who in order to achieve recognition, target religious emotions of other communities, originally are very far away
from their own religion, because a true spiritual person, in no case, can dare to attack on other’s religion. If we unfold any religious book of world like Bible, Quran or Bhagvat Gita, pages of these scriptures are filled with quotes of tolerance for other faiths of the world. Quoting Bible, it says ‘we should expect others to have different beliefs about God’. Ephesians in its chapter 4 says ‘Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clam our and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. John 14:6 says ‘Jesus is truth, while christens can acknowledge the right of other to have different belief’. Even text 42 of chapter 18 of Bhagvat Gita says ‘Samo damas, Tapah saucam, Ksantir, Arjavam, eva co jinanam, vijnanam, astikyam, brahma- karma svobhava-jam. Translation-Peacefulness, self control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty wisdom, knowledge and religiousness, these are the qualities , by which Brahmanas work. Quran in verse 108 of chapter6 says, Tolerance is the basic principle of Islam. Quran in another place says ‘To be your religion, to me be mine’. In Surat( Al baqaral 256) Quran says ‘There is no compulsion in religion’.
It is clearly manifest from the above mentioned facts that a religiously intolerant person is either ignorant about the textual fact of their religious books or readily disrespecting their own religious teachings. Religious bigotry has been becoming a great peril over tranquility and affluence of whole globe for last few years. By producing revulsion for each other, we ourselves are digging our graves and day is not far when we our self, would obliterate, our very survival by assassinating each other, so there is a dire need for United National Organisation to step into action and come up with an decisive resolution to this enormous parasite over human survival, in the form of a strong International Law, restraining every one, for any such remark, which in any way, can hurt religious sentiments of any community of the world, otherwise fire of odium knows no religion.
