ACB produces charge-sheet against woman among two in fraud case

JAMMU: The Anti Corruption Bureau produced charge-sheet against two persons including a woman in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Baramulla on Monday in a fraud case.
As per an official spokesperson, the ACB produced charge-sheet in a case registered vide FIR No. 10/2013 under Sections 5(1) (d) read with 5(2) of PC Act 2006, Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 & 120-B of RPC in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Baramulla against Abdul Rashid Rather (SPO No 06/SPO) and Raja Begum, widow of Late Gh Ahmad Rather.
He further said that instant case was registered in Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau on basis of a verification conducted into allegations of fake certificate issued by Police Station Bandipora with respect to death of Ghulam Ahmad Rather, son of Habib Rather, resident of Pazalpora Mantrigam, Bandipora, which was used for grabbing a piece of land without knowledge of actual land owners. Verification revealed that oral gift shown to have been made by Gh Ahmad Rather, son of Habib Rather, resident of Pazalpora Mantrigam, Bandipora in favour of Gh Mohammad Rather and Ab Majid Rather, sons of Gh Qadir Rather, residents of Pazalpora Mantrigam Bandipora on May 2, 1998, whereby land measuring 17 Marlas under survey No. 1579 at village Mantrigam was devolved vide mutation No.1315 dated May 2, 1998, has been found to be false and fabricated, as Gh Ahmad Rather, son of Habib Rather, resident of Pazalpora Mantrigam, Bandipora has died on March 14, 1996 i.e., two years before date of attestation of the instant fraudulent mutation, he added.
The official further said that enquiry revealed that Raja Begum, widow of Gh Ahmad Rather, resident of Pazalpora Mantrigam, Bandipora was found registered with Social Welfare Department Bandipora as a widow and incentives stand paid regularly to her by Social Welfare Department since 1997, which clearly indicates death of her husband prior to 1997. Besides, 17 Marlas of land in question were also found in her possession till 2006. In order to cover misdeeds, accused beneficiaries namely Gh Mohammad Rather and Ab Majid Rather, sons of Gh. Qadir Rather, residents of Pazalpora Mantrigam, Bandipora in league with Chowkidar concerned and officials of Police Station Bandipora managed a fake death certificate of Ghulam Ahmad Rather wherein date of death of Ghulam Ahmad Rather has been shown as December 12, 2001, giving a notion that Ghulam Ahmad Rather was alive on date of attestation of the mutation, he added.
The Investigation of case was concluded as proved against aforementioned accused for launching prosecution and accordingly the charge-sheet has been produced in the court of law, he said, adding that next date of hearing has been fixed on February 9, 2021.
