SRINAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed two officials of Forest Department namely Sohail Unis Shikari, Range officer and Ghulam Mohd Naikoo, Forest Guard, Kokernag, Anantnag for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 allotment of timber.
As per an official spokesperson, the sleuths of ACB received a complaint alleging therein that one Sohail Unis Shikari, Range officer, Kokernag, Anantnag is demanding bribe of Rs 22,000 through Forest Guard, Ghulam Mohd Naikoo for processing file of complainant for allotment of timber (Kairoo Kair) for house construction.
ACB arrests Naib Tehsildar for taking bribe
JAMMU: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrested Naib Tehsildar on spot while taking bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh.
ACB team headed by DySP Sanjeev Singh Slathia conducted a raid at Green Chili Bar at Paloura Jammu and arrested Naib Tehsildar identified as Ashok Kumar Sharma, son of Chajju Ram, resident of Sunail, Akhnoor presently posted at Niabat Gharota on spot while taking bribe Rs 1.50 lakh. The teams of ACB has raided at three places in Akhnoor sector. Large number of revenue papers have been seized during the raids connection with the arrest of Naib Tehsildar.
The complainant managed Rs 10,000 and approached ACB for legal action against corrupt officials, said official, adding that contents of complaint prima facie disclose commission of offence punishable under section 7 of PC Act 1988 and accordingly FIR No. 10/2022 was registered at Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau, Anantnag. “Immediately after registration of FIR, a trap team was constituted, which nabbed accused forest guard Ghulam Mohd Naikoo while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from complainant. He was arrested on the spot by ACB and bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses. Sohail Unis Shikari, Range officer, Kokernag, Anantnag was also arrested by ACB team,” said official, adding that further investigation is going on.
