ACB nabs Patwari red-handed while receiving bribe of Rs 15,000

SRINAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed one Gulzar Ahmad Makloo, Patwari, Halqa Zakoora, Srinagar for demanding Rs 50,000 and accepting Rs 15,000 as bribe for issuance of revenue extracts.
As per an official spokesperson, the ACB received a complaint wherein it has been alleged that one Gulzar Ahmad Makloo, working as Patwari, Halqa Zakura, Srinagar is demanding Rs 50,000 as bribe for issuance of revenue extracts of land in favour of the complainant. He further said that deal was later settled for Rs 15,000 as first installment for the same. “On this, complainant approached ACB for taking legal action against erring revenue official under relevant laws. “As contents of the complaint prima facie disclose commission of offence as defined under section 7 of PC Act 1988, accordingly FIR No 26/2022 was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation started. A trap was laid by the ACB team and accused namely Gulzar Ahmad Makloo, Patwari, Halqa Zakura, Srinagar was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 15000. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of accused in presence of independent witness,” said official, adding that accused was arrested on the spot and legal formalities were carried on for further course of necessary action.
