ACB nabs Patwari red-handed while accepting bribe

SRINAGAR: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed one Abdul Aziz Dar, Patwari, Halqa Mugalpora, Tehsil & District Kupwara for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 15,000 from complainant for providing revenue extracts.
As per an official spokesperson, ACB received a complaint wherein complainant alleged that one Abdul Aziz Dar, Patwari of Halqa Mufalpora, Tehsil and District Kupwara was demanding bribe for providing revenue extracts. He further alleged that accused Patwari was adopting delaying tactics and was not preparing revenue extracts. It was also alleged by the complainant that aforesaid Patwari had already taken bribe of Rs 10,000 from him but demanding more for providing revenue extracts. “On receiving complaint, prima facie offence under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out and consequently FIR No. 02/2022 was registered at Police Station ACB Baramulla. Subsequently, a trap team was constituted, which caught Abdul Aziz Dar, Patwari red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5000 from complainant.
He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB. The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses,” the official said, adding that further investigations are going on.
