Academy inaugurates Youth Music Festival ‘Poungar’

JAMMU: J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Jammu on Monday inaugurated four-day Youth Music Festival at KL Saigal Hall, here.

Prof. Kailash Mehra appreciated the role of the academy in promoting art, culture, and languages. She said that the present time scenario has changed drastically that has put effect on the life style of the youth.
“This changing life style trends have also changed the ways of doing activities as were in practice earlier but the initiative taken by J&K Cultural Academy of this 4 day youth music festival will encourage the youth to excel in their respective field of music and singing,” she mentioned.
Declaring the performances of the young singers, she said that Jammu and Kashmir had lot of talent in the field of folk and classical muosique in particular and these young artists only required the platform and recognition and Academy has done a tremendous job by organizing this music festival for youth of the region.
Dr. Amn earlier welcomed the gathering and expressed Academy’s aim and objectives to do such music activities in the KL Saigal Hall.
He further said that children are the future of any nation and to make the aware and sensitize about the Indian culture and heritage, Academy organises such events to provide them a platform to exhibit their hidden talent in the various discipline of music.
The young artists who participated include Nishu Manhas ( Dogri and Urdu), Monika Sharma(Urdu Gazal) Vishwagandharav (Dogri song), Stainzen (Hindi song), Aseem Sharma Shubhangi (Urdu Ghazal) and Tanishika Tickoo. The accompanists who accompanied the singers with Rhythmus include Joginder pal (Tabla) Rakesh Anand (Flute) and Sunil Sharma (Synth) Additya Bhanu
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Reeta Kharyal, Assistant Editor Dogri and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Rattan Lal Basotra, Assistant Editor, Dictionary.
Others present were Dr. Baljeet Raina, M.S Kamra, Jaswant Singh and Krishan Lal Mast.
