JAMMU: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday slammed social networking site Twitter for suspending organisation’s official Twitter accounts including @ABVPVoice, Delhi State Account @ABVPDelhi and accounts of ABVP National Office Secretary Rahul Sharma and National Media Convener Saket Bahuguna.
In a statement issued here, Varsha Jandial State Secretary, ABVP J&K said that social media giant who claims to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly without barriers has blocked the largest student organisation of the largest democracy in the world yesterday.
“Twitter brought darkness in the communication system of ABVP showing its lopsided attitude and prejudice despite the aforesaid accounts following the Twitter policy”, she added.
“After massive online outrage over the suspension of these accounts, Twitter was forced to revoke the suspensions today morning but this incident has raised several questions over the functioning of social media platforms like Twitter and the subjective bias prevalent in them”, she asserted and sought unconditional apology.
