Abhishek claims maiden 6-Ball Snooker title

JAMMU: Abhishek Pathania claimed the inaugural 6-Ball Red (prize money) State Open Snooker Championship which was organised by J and K Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here on Saturday.
Abhishek, who had nothing to lose against his senior, Ishuk Choudhary, made a confident start winning opening three frames in best of nine game final. However, experienced Ishuk fought back and secured two back to back frames to make it 2-3 at the end if five frames.
Abhishek, who still had an upper hand with one frame up score on the board, played sensibly in rest of the game to bag two more frames making an end to the game at 5-2 (35-09, 43-30, 36-11, 23-28, 20-33, 34-20, 39-27)
With today’s maiden 6-Ball title, Abhishek has emerged as an expert in the shorter version of the cue game. He was awarded with already announced cash prize of Rs 10,000 by Chairman of the Association, Siddharth Sharma, who was Chief Guest in the closing function.
Runners-up, Ishuk got Rs 5,000 while Vidit Gawri was named first semifinalist and Jaideep Manocha as second, who awarded with cash prizes worth Rs 25,00 each.
The Chief Guest was accompanied by President of the Association, Sanjeev Gupta, Senior Vice President, Jaideep Manocha, General Secretary, Vishal Abrol and Treasurer, Sohail Khalid as also members, Ishuk Choudhary, Sunil Jain and Gurjeev Singh.
This competition held under the supervision of Organising Committee consisting Jaideep Manocha, Ishuk Choudhary, Sohail Khalid and Gurjeev Singh. Rakesh Sharma was marker, who officiated the today’s final.
