UDHAMPUR: Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab clinched the Ninth Annual Battal Ballian Kesari Dangal title defeating Pravesh of Bahadurgurh in Haryana in the main bout that lasted for 24 minutes at Battal in Udhampur.
A historic and famous mega Dangal of district Udhampur was organised by Pir Baba Dangal Committee Battal Ballian in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the supervision of President Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and President of Dangal committee, Deep Singh (Pinka). In all, 80 bouts were played in day long Dangal involving an expenditure of Rs. 3.5 lakh. Former Minister and MLA, Pawan Kumar Gupta was Chief Guest who distributed cash prizes among the winning wrestlers. Colonel (Retd), Balwant Singh and Raj Kumar Buccha were Guests of Honour.
While the title winner, Abdul Gani got Rs 61,000 cash prize, the runners-up, Pravesh received Rs 40,000 from the visiting guests.
In second main bout, Ajay Sharma of Landon Power House, Udhampur defeated Mohnu of Chand Roop Akhara Delhi while third bout went to Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu, who defeated Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi. The fourth bout was won by Nisar of J and K Police beating Jatinder of Alamgir (Punjab) and the fifth main bout claimed by Kaka of RS Pura, who defeated Resham of Delhi.
Members and Technical Officials who helped in smooth conduct of this Dangal included Deep Singh (Pinka), Sukh Dev Singh, Dhiyan Singh, Master Munna Khan, Munshi Ram Sharma, Panch Puran Chand Sharma, Rangil Singh, Sham Singh, Gulshad Master, Pankaj Singh, Jagdev Singh, Sihander Singh, Om Parkash Verma, Rajinder Kumar, Vijay Singh (Biju), Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri, Sanjeev Singh, Balwinder Singh Chib, Mohd. Fareed and Murli Dhar (Munna).
