Aarakshan Hatao Desh Bachao rally attracts massive support JAC General Category bats for reservation on economic basis

JAMMU: Joint Action Committee (JAC) General Category on Sunday held a massive sit in protest and Aarakshan Hatao Desh Bachao Rally in favour of ‘No Reservation in Promotions’ here at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, near Exhibition Ground.
Scores of members from general category irrespective of caste, creed, colour and religious affiliations from all parts of J and K including far off areas like Kashmir, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, and Reasi assembled at the site exhibiting mesmerizing show of strength.
JAC, an amalgam of various social organisations like Brahman Sabha, Mahajan Sabha, Rajput Sabha, Aggarwal Sabha, Jain Sabha and all associated Biradaris and sects fighting for the cause of general category people on the issue ‘Reservation on Economic Basis-A pre-requisite for inclusive development’. In this regard, the first initiative was its fight for implementation of ‘No reservation in promotions’.
Ved Prakash Sharma, Convener and President Brahman Sabha alleged that certain MLAs are pursuing the objective of seeking passage of Bill overruling the judgment of High Court striking down the Reservation in Promotion Rules 9,10 and 34 and Section 6 of Reservation Act 2005.
“These MLAs have contemplated to introduce Private Members Bill in the Legislative Assembly on the issue of Reservation in Promotions. The action of these MLAs speaks volumes of the brewing hatred among them against general category masses and they have breached the oath of constitution taken by them while assuming the charge. They have built an unholy consortium on the basis of caste to seek murder of merit and seniority”, he further alleged.
Narayan Singh President Rajput Sabha expressed serious concern and displeasure over the prejudice shown by these MLAs for general category people.
Ankur Sharma Convener JAC, Kathua said that grave injustice is being meted out to general masses by way of providing caste based reservation, whereas the Reservation if at all needs to be provided must be on economic basis irrespective of caste, creed and colour. Ravi Khajuria Convener JAC Samba and Er Salim Bandey Convener JAC Poonch highlighted that the judgment of High Court and subsequent proceedings are testimony of the fact that these judgments have corrected a constitutional anomaly.
President J&K General Category Welfare Forum Syed Shamim and Patron Aftab Andrabi also joined the sit-in protest. The members of Kashmir province delegation applauded the efforts of JAC to unite all the three regions of State for the cause. Aarakshan Virodhi Manch also remained instrumental during the protest.
Vinod Gupta, President Central Mahajan Sabha warned the political parties and their MLAs to refrain from playing vote bank politics and act on the sacred oath of Constitution.
Joint Action Committee impressed upon general category people to intensify their agitation in fighting the cause appropriately.
