AAP accuses Centre of helping Mallya flee
New Delhi:- AAP today accused the Centre of “helping” beleaguered businessman Vijay Mallya flee the country and alleged “there are some people in BJP who receive money and favour from him”.
Citing media reports, AAP leader Dilip Pandey alleged that Mallya managed to run away from the country “in connivance with people in the government”.
Referring to a CBI lookout notice issued on 16 October 2015, Pandey said “the notice was diluted and Mallya was allowed to go out of the country which proves that there are some people in BJP who receive money and favour from him.”
Mallya became Rajya Sabha MP with the “blessings” of BJP which shows his proximity to the party, he charged.
“Mallya was in the Rajya Sabha a day before he fled the country and met the ministers of the government at the Central Hall which leads to understanding that he was suggested to leave the country by them,” AAP spokesman Raghav Chadha said.
The AAP leaders also attacked the BJP-led NDA government, alleging it extended huge loans to big businessmen like Mallya and waived bad debt by relaxing norms while farmers in the country were committing suicide due to debt burden.
Pandey alleged that BJP was on the way to “replace” Congress on the front of corruption.
“We need Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi to answer questions as to why a person like Mallya who grabbed the country’s money and who should be in jail was sent to Rajya Sabha by BJP and also became a medium for his exit from the country,” Chadha said.
Responding to a question regarding three-day World Cultural Festival being held on Yamuna floodplain in the city, Pandey defended Delhi government saying it had “minimum” role to play in it.
