When flash floods struck Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the Valley, it was Army, Indian Air Force and National Disaster Manage-ment Response Force to evacuate victims from the marooned areas and provide them initial relief. Now that Pakistan has struck on International Border, it is yet again the Army to take care of border dwellers in terms of lodging them at safer places with facilities in the wake of continuous shelling from across the border.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for the political class, either in the government or outside it, to leave everything to the Army with reward of abuses and condemnation to appease a specific constituency?
