Rs. 1.75 cr for face-lifting of Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground

JAMMU: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, and Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla on Sunday informed that government has earmarked Rs. 1.75 crore for facilifting of Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground, adding that under the project, the waiting shed, cremation shed, premises, entry gate, ladies and male bathrooms to be modernized.
This was stated by the minister while interacting with the people after launching Rs. 25 lakh development works at Ward No. 22 in Shastri Nagar, here today.
The minister asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to complete all the launched projects within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He said that an effective monitoring mechanism have been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of the developmental schemes in every district and block level headquarters.
While inspecting the progress of ongoing projects in Shastri Nagar, Bhalla directed the executing agencies to speed up their men and machinery for timely completion of the ongoing projects besides ensuring quality work on ground so that people of these areas get benefitted.
The minister said that government is keen to address public concerns on priority and several measures are being initiated for timely redressal of the development related issues of the people across the State. He said Government has launched number of welfare scheme like IAY and BSUP to improve living standards of poor.
Bhalla called upon the people to cooperate with executing agencies in quality and timely completion of ongoing development works in their respective colonies.
Regarding improvement of drinking water facilities in the Shastri Nagar, the minister informed that government has identified space for construction of deep drill tube well, adding that the project would be started soon after completing tendering formalities.
Bhalla called upon the people to avoid littering inside the lanes and parks and help in maintaining the area clean.
Bhalla also greeted people on Eid-ul-Azha wishing them well-being and prosperity. He hoped that this festival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, tranquility and the glorious pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries past.
