CAPD intensifies market checking ahead of Eid

SRINAGAR: In connection with Eid-u-Azha, the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) has intensified market checking in the Srinagar district to ensure availability of vegetables, mutton, chicken and other eatable items to the consumer on the rates prescribed by the department.
Accordingly, the department has divided Srinagar district in zones and constituted four teams, headed by Tehsil Supplies Officer, to conduct market checking on regular basis so that no-body is allowed to sell items on exorbitant rates.
Meanwhile, the department has fixed the rates of various poultry items with chicken (broiler) at 100 per kg, chicken (Lyer) at Rs 75, chicken (parent) at Rs 110 per kg and eggs at Rs 40 per dozen.
