Record holder Kayak Zahoor gets Sher-e-Kashmir Award

JAMMU: National record holder Kayak from Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmed Latoo received the Sher-e-Kashmir Award in a simple ceremony that took place at Indoor Complex, Srinagar.
Likewise in Jammu, long pending awards were handed over the already announced recipients by the senior officials of the J&K Sports Council. Entered into the world of Water Sports, Zahoor held the National record in 200 meters Sports Sprint Canoeing. Serving with J&K Police, Zahoor has to his credit 100 medals, including mostly gold at the National level tournaments held under the banner of concerned sports federation and All India Sports Control Board (AISCB).
Zahoor’s first international medal came in the year 2007 in Rafting event and remained National champion for 10 consecutive years. Recipient of prestigious DGP medal in recognition towards his sports achievements, Zahoor was awarded one rank up promotion in the year 2004 for winning maximum gold in a single National championship.
On receiving the prestigious award which also carries Rs 50,000 cash and citation, Zahoor has been compliment by everyone associated directly and indirectly with water sports in J&K.
