Shootout over land dispute, 4 brothers injured, accused flees
KATHUA: Four brothers got seriously injured when they were shot at by their cousin-an employee of Power Development Department (PDD), over land dispute in Kathua district on Sunday afternoon.
”Four persons got injured when their cousin fired at them with his licensed 12 Bore Rifle in village Barwaal on Jammu–Pathankot National Highway in Kathua district,” Mohan Lal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua said.
The SSP further informed that two families had a land dispute, which led into scuffle following which the accused identified as Shiv Charan Singh, son of Mukuand Singh, resident of village Barwaal opened fire and four persons namely Pawan Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Rashapl Singh and Surinder Singh, all sons of Amar Singh, got severe injuries.
“The accused is an employee of Power Development Department (PDD), informed SSP Mohal Lal.
”We have registered a case (FIR 340/14) under section 307 of RPC and started the investigations,” he said, adding that manhunt is on to apprehend the accused.
Meanwhile, the injured brothers have been shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital for specialised treatment.
