Millennials addicted to smartphones
New York : The millennials are in awe of their smartphones, with nearly 90 percent admitting they never leave their devices during the day, says a new survey.
The US survey of 1,019 people aged 18-34 years found that the first thing 80 percent of millennials do every morning is to reach for their smartphones.
Nearly 78 percent spend more than two hours a day texting, surfing, talking, tweeting, shopping, banking and more, the findings revealed.
“I think the overall trend we discovered is young people still wish they could do more (with their smartphones). And they want to do it faster and easier,” James DeBello, CEO of the US-based firm Mitek that commissioned the study to research firm Zogby Analytics.
While 47 percent access businesses via mobile at least once a day, 58 percent have tried to enrol for a new service or account on mobile, USA Today reported.
According to researchers, what most millennials love about their smartphones is the camera and clicking not just selfies but things available in the market and sharing those pictures with friends.
“Around 60 percent young people say that in the next five years. everything will be done on mobile devices,” the survey noted.
