Dear Editor,
This refers to reports that Prime Minister raised the border dispute forcefully with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping. We do hope that the Governments of India and China settle the border dispute amicably and swiftly. This is the best time to do this, as China is hoping to enter the Indian market in a big way and is looking to enhance Indian investments in the Chinese market. There are talks of greater cultural exchanges. Let us not forget that money talks.
China has to show that it is a trustworthy neighbour. If more border violations happen and Chinese troops stay put in Indian territory, all the agreements that the two countries have inked will go into the dustbin. Meanwhile, we need to strengthen our Armed Forces and be ready to give a fitting reply if needed. China should know that business is not as usual in India anymore with the Modi regime around.
