PG lifts inter-college volleyball title
JAMMU: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of University of Jammu on Friday lifted the inter-college men’s volleyball trophy beating Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur 3-1 in the final on the campus courts, here.
Leading by two sets in best of five title clash, PG lost the third set badly 08-25. However, the team played sensibly in the fourth set to take it away 25-21 and the game also. The score: 25-14, 25-19, 08-25, 25-21.
Vinay Manhas, Naseeb Singh and Abhishek Sharma performed well from the winning side while Aquib and Arun Kotwal fought well from GDC Udhampur.
Earlier, in the semifinals, PG defeated GDC Hiranagar in straight sets while GDC Udhampur trounced their counterparts from GDC Ramnagar 3-0.
In the final, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Pankaj Srivastava was Chief Guest, who gave away title trophy to PG team.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical penal comprising Roshal Sharma, Amit Sharma, Sangita Bhatt and Priya Charak. The volleyball competition held under the supervision of Volleyball Coach of JU, Vikas Karlopia.
KHO-KHO (Men): Meanwhile, in men’s kho-kho competition, GGM Science College and GDC Kathua won their respective matches. The Results: Science College bt GDC Rajouri by three points while GDC Kathua outplayed GDC Mendhar by a big margin of 22 points.
KHO-KHO (Women): In inter-college women’s kho-kho event, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur and GCW Gandhi Nagar advanced to the next round of the competition today. The Results: GCW Udhampur bt GDC Akhnoor by two points; GCW Gandhi Nagar bt GCW Kathua by 10 points. Kho-Kho competition officiated by the technical penal including Gagan Kumar, Anil Sharma, Anil Kumar and Ankush Sharma.
