Road crash: Girl held for hitting morning-walker to death
JAMMU: Police on Thursday arrested a young girl for negligent driving as a morning-walker died after being hit by the car she was driving in the wee hours.
A police spokesman said that a car while on way to Balwinder Chowk from Sarwal at around 0700 hrs, hit one person, identified as Inderjeet Padha, resident of Rajpura, who was a retired employee of Health Department.
He said that the injured was immediately shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for treatment, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
The spokesperson added that FIR 144/14 under sections 279, 304-A of RPC was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and Pooja, daughter of DGP K Rajendra was arrested in this connection.
Sources told STATE TIMES that by this arrest, the DGP has set an example that nobody is above the law.
Meanwhile, the vehicle SX4 bearing registration number JK02BA-4112 has been seized and the investigations are on, the spokesperson said.
