Priya Sethi inaugurates AICTE workshop

SRINAGAR: The Department of Higher Education, J and K Government organized one-day training cum workshop Wednesday at S.P College Srinagar organised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in connection with Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS).
The Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture, Priya Sethi was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sethi said that the idea behind organizing such workshops is a means to facilitate the scheme and reach out to the downtrodden sections of the society. She assured the scheme would be implemented at the grass-root level, so that the students get benefit from it and make their future secure.
The minister said that the aim of the workshop to introduce PMSSS and also instructions regarding its implementation to the facilitation centre incharges.

The Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education, Dr. A.S. Pant presented the over view of the scheme. He spoke at length on the technicalities involved in the conception and execution of PMSSS and instructed the audience regarding the handling of the counseling session that would follow the workshop.
Earlier, the Principal of the college highlighted the importance of such schemes for the under privileged students of the State and also hoprd that the scheme be either made a permanent feature or extended. He said that the out of eleven different facilitation centres, counselling will only take place at two centres.
