‘Govt’s focus on creating durable assets under MGNREGA’

RAMBAN: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan on Tuesday inaugurated a Panchayat Ghar at Pernote Ramban.
The minister was accompanied by MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh, MLC Firdous Tak, DDC Ramban F.A Shah Bukhari, Director Rural Development Jammu, ACD besides Sarpanchs and Panchs of adjoining areas were present on the occasion.
Responding to demand of the people, the minister sanctioned a playground for High School Pernote on spot and directed ACD Ramban to start work on the playground at the earliest. Besides, he assured them that the matter of establishing a community hall in the village shall be looked into for early redressal.
Later, the minister chaired a review meeting of sectoral officers at Ramban to take stock of implementation of Centrally Sponsored Flagship Scheme MGNREGA in the district.
While reviewing the condition of road from Gool to Ramban, the minister enquired about its maintenance and renovation from the concerned officers. He expressed dismay over poor maintenance of the road and directed the DDC to hold an enquiry into the reasons behind this carelessness.
The minister exhorted upon the officers of Horticulture, Fisheries, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry and other Departments to work in convergence with the Rural Development for providing employment besides creation of valuable assets in the district. He informed that the Govt has recently got the last two year’s liability amounting to Rs 240 crore released from the Union Govt under MGNREGA and strenuous efforts are being made to get all liabilities cleared under the scheme at the earliest.
The minister directed DDC Ramban to hold regular meetings with all the departments and lay down plans wherever convergence with the MGNREGA is possible.
