Missing domestic help from CJM’s residence Family seeks justice, takes out candle light march

JAMMU: Parents of missing Rafiq along with two hundred supporters from their village on Sunday organised candle light march to seek justice here at Press Club Jammu.
The candle light march was organised with the support of Voice for Rights, an organisation working for the protection of Human Rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
While speaking to media persons, Chairperson Voice for Rights Deepika Singh (Advocate) appealed to people for extending support to the parents of the missing Rafiq who has gone missing from the house of CJM, Rajouri, Mehmood Rehman Choudhary. Child was employed as domestic help by CJM and his doctor wife at their residence three years before when he was only 12 years of age.
She said, “This is the right time to initiate movement against the child labour and we all have a role to play in abolishing the same”.
The parents of the child appealed to the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court to initiate probe into the matter and issue directions to constitute SIT for tracing their child.
Speaking to media persons, they said, “We have strong faith in judiciary and we are sure justice will be done and SIT will be constituted to trace our child who is missing for last one month”.
Advocate Deepika Singh said, “It is unfortunate that the Magistrate who has been appointed to protect laws and deliver justice, employed a child of 12 years as domestic help knowing that it is an offence under law”.
Highlighting the police inaction, she further said that the child is missing for last 28 days and police has failed to take action against the delinquent employer who is unfortunately a Magistrate.
Father of the child, Farooq Ahmed expressed apprehension of his son’s killing by the CJM and his men. He said, “Judge deceived us by employing our minor child as servant at his residence. He promised that he will put our child in school and raise him as a good person. He also promised that on attaining majority, he will use his all the contacts to provide employment to the child”.
He said, “My son Rafiq Ahmed (15) of Ragura, Nagrota was working as domestic help at the residence of CJM, Mehmood Choudhary for last three years. My son is missing from his residence from 12th April 2015. We have lodged a missing report on 16th April 2015 at Police Station Bahu Fort but no action has been taken by the concerned Police station either in locating my son or taking action against the CJM”. He alleged that the Judge (CJM) is threatening them of dire consequences. He further alleged that SDPO East categorically told them that he will not take any action against the Magistrate as he is a judge.
