GDC Paloura organises webinar on ‘Stress Management’

JAMMU: The Psychological Counseling Cell, Placement Cell and Career Counseling Cell of Government Degree College Paloura (Mishriwala), under Manodarpan, an initiative of MHRD, Govt. of India, organized webinar on the Topic “Stress Management” under the able guidance of Prof. Ramneek Kaur, Principal of the college. The purpose of conducting this webinar was to acquaint the students with causes, preventive measures and treatment of stress related problems. Around hundred students and teachers participated in the webinar which was held on online platform Google-Meet. Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Sharma, Counselor, Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College, Kathua was the speaker on the occasion. Dr. Sharma highlighted the various psychological, social and emotional causes which trigger stress. He reiterated that exam pressure, eating habits, excessive usage of social media and unhealthy social relationships are the most common causes of stress, anxiety panic attacks & ultimately lead to depression among students. He stressed on developing healthy lifestyle like — practicing yoga, meditation, balanced diet, physical exercises etc. He added creative activities such as diary writing, painting, singing can also have positive impact on the overall mental well being of the students and society on the whole.
Prof. Pooja Sharma compared the proceedings of the programme and vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Vishal Sharma. The whole programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Shivani Sharma.
