Govt polytechnic organises signature campaign

JAMMU: The NSS Wing of Government Polytechnic Jammu in collaboration with Sampark Economical Development Society Jammu organised an awareness drive through signature campaign on the World No Tobacco Day in the institution premises.
The motive of the campaign was to create awareness about the ill effects of tobacco usage and is intended to encourage a 24-hour period of abstinence from tobacco consumption.
The Principal of the Institution, Arun Bangotra drew attention of all the students and staff to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and its negative ill effects, which currently lead to nearly six million deaths each year worldwide.
The President of the Society, Nisha Verma stressed on ill effects of tobacco use, health related risks, effects of passive smoking, better ways to quit smoking and to adopt healthy life style.
The programme was organised under the guidance of NSS Coordinator Khalid Sheikh.
Others who were present on the occasion include Inderjeet Singh, Munish Kumar, Zia-ul Haq Kohli, K.S Manhas, Manjeet Singh, Tariq Amin and Harinder Arora.
