Mukteshi kept audience spellbound in ‘Swar Sudha’

JAMMU: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Jammu under its Horizon Series presented ‘Swar Sudha’ a programme of vocal music featuring versatile Mukteshi Sharma here this evening at the Auditorium of Government College for Women, Parade Jammu.
Mukteshi kept the audience spellbound through her soulful singing and demonstrated her command over her diverse range of singing.
Earlier, the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, while welcoming the gathering of music lovers, informed that this is the first programme of the series aimed at giving platform to the exceptionally talented young performers and also to create connoisseurs and develop appreciation of audiences towards pure art forms by organising such kind of concerts on regular intervals.
Introducing Mukteshi Sharma, the Regional Director ICCR, Balwant Thakur said that she is a versatile young singer who has excelled in wide range of singing, varying from classical to semi-classical, light, Sufi, folk and contemporary (Western).
As a child artist, Mukteshi Sharma set a new record by winning first prize of J and K Academy of Art Culture and Languages in classical vocal singing consecutively for seven years.
Mukteshi started her programme with Khayal Madhuwanti which followed by Tappas in Raag Bhervi. The programme took new heights when her Bhajans transported audience to the world of spirituality. The programme culminated with her Sufi singing and the entire programme received overwhelming appreciation and applauds. Her programme was brilliantly complimented by the accompaniment of harmonium by Ashutosh Mangotra and Tabla by Neeraj Verma.
On the occasion, Mukteshi Sharma was also honoured by ICCR, Jammu and the honours were done by Danesh Rana, Inspector General of Police, Jammu and Prof. Hemla Aggarwal, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Parade.
