Floods in J and K
Dear Editor,
The unprecedented situation in Jammu and Kashmir shows that India is experiencing the after-effects of climate change in an unexpected manner, a grim reminder of what lies ahead. What is worse is that we cannot reverse climate change in a short span as it involves anthropogenic activities and geographic factors. It is sad to know that what has affected the State the most is the lack of proper warning systems and preparedness. The Central and State Governments must use this experience as an opportunity to introduce and revamp warning and disaster management systems.
