UDHAMPUR: Two-day Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament for under-14 and under-17 (Boys and Girls) of Zone Udhampur in the disciplines Volleyball, Kabbadi, Kho-kho and Wrestling concluded at Mini Stadium, here on Thursday.
About 719 students including 455 boys and 264 girls from 33 institutions of Udhampur Zone participated in the tournament.
In the closing ceremony, Zonal Physical Education Officer Panchari, Pawan Kumar Sharma was the Chief Guest while I/c ZPEO Udhampur, Kanchan Sharma presided over the function.
The Chief Guest congratulated the Organising Committee for the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
The tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the supervision of Santosh Kumari ZPEO Udhampur and under the overall supervision of DYSSO Udhampur.
Final results:
BOYS under-14 Kabaddi: GMS Rathian defeated GHS Jhakhar by five points. Kho-Kho: Little Flower High School beat GHS Malhar by 10 points. Volleyball: Happy Model Higher Secondary School Udhampur outplayed Sharon Public School Udhampur by two points. Wrestling: 35 Kg: Raju from GHS Pangara Khalsa defeated Sunil Kumar of GMS Kharorian. Under-45 kg: Irshad Ahmed of GMS Padanoo beat Arif of GHS Kalta.
Undere-17 Kabaddi: Dehli Public School Udhampur defeated GHSS Garhi by six points. Kho-Kho: GHS Malhar outplayed GHSS Garhi by nine points. Volleyball: GHSS Garhi trounced Happy Model Higher Secondary School, Udhampur by two points. Wrestling: 35 Kg: Amit Kumar of GHS Battal Ballian defeated Jia Lal of GHS Gandala. 45 Kg: Firdous from GHSS Krimachi defeated Balbir Singh of JK Public HSS Udhampur. 50 Kg: Vijay Kumar from GHSS Garhi beat Balwan Chand of GHS Narore.
All the matches were officiated by Vishnu Devi, Naveen Sharma, Raj Kumar, Pushap Kumar, Pushpinder Kour, Pooja Devi, Renu Thaplu, Raghubir Singh, Ramesh Chander, Kamaljeet Kour, Sunita Gulati and Santosh Abrol.
