JAMMU: Ashish Rohmetra, son of Narinder Rohmetra Chief Engineer (retd) brings laurels to J&K State by achieving second prize in an international competition “The Attendance – Reconfiguring Government Schools in India”, organised by Archmello.
It was an open idea design competition challenge in which architecture students, architects, interior designers and civil engineers from all over world participated.
The major thought behind the competition was to address the issue of the poor conditions of government schools in India through architecture by proposing a Model School which can be repeated across the nation.
Ashish is the only architect from J&K who has succeeded in getting the second prize. He is also running his private architecture design studio, Nida Architects, in J&K.
“Pandemic has questioned the traditional school building designs. Our post pandemic school design features facilitating cross ventilation, creating outdoor rooms and offering easy transitions between exterior and interior spaces ” he stated. He added that these strategies will not only tackle students health issues but also will have positive impact on students wellness and mental health.
