HANDWARA: At least 22 shops were gutted in a midnight blaze at Lawoosa area in Kupwara district. The shops in shopping complex within the Army brigade got damaged during intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday, officials said.
As per eyewitness, fire broke out at around 11:00 PM and engulfed whole shopping complex, damaging at least 22 shops belonging to civilians including non-locals at Lawoosa in Nowgam. Nearly three buildings gutted in the fire incident including residential place given to shopkeepers. The exact cause of fire has not been ascertained yet. A police party rushed to spot along with fire tenders who doused fire after hectic efforts.
