Police continues rescue operations
REASI : During the recent heavy rainfall in the State which continued for more than four days, district Reasi was highly affected. The Chenab River was flowing above its danger mark, which caused a serious threat. In well coordinated efforts by District Police and its units large number of people were rescued in a series of rescue operations in coordination with army and CRPF. To mention a few Kala Jhar Chungra’ was first major rescue operation that was launched and continued for more than 3-4 Days. The area is at an approximate distance of 35 kms on foot from Chasana, the police party was led by SHO Chasana himself. Here around 15 people were rescued by the police party using ropes through a Nallah risking their own lives, five dead bodies were also brought down by police. In village Kayala (Suketer) 35 families were rescued by the police party of PS Reasi and shifted to a nearby Panchayat Ghar, 30 families were rescued from upper Talwara and shifted to a safer place. In another major rescue operation at Seri Dera Baba area around 300 people were rescued by the police party and taken to a safer place.
The subdivision police units of Arnas and Mahore also rescued large no of people in a series of rescue operations. In a major rescue operation by police party at Arnas 85 persons of nine families from village Saral, Beala, and Haardh were rescued and shifted to Primary School Saral. In another rescue operation around 110 people of 19 families were rescued by civil administration and police from village Dotal and Godher Dharmari in Arnas and shifted to Primary School Kalees and Primary School Shanoog. In a series of rescue operations by police unit at Mahore, a large number of people were rescued from Dewal Dogga, Bandi (Mahore), Dada, Mullas, Theinmarag and shifted to safer places. The police recovered the dead bodies from the debris and it was after a tremendous hard work by police party that these bodies were recovered. Special team under the supervision of SHO Mahore was constituted to expedite the opening of roads that were blocked. Immediate relief of free ration around 19 quintals (rice + Atta), 651 blankets, 30 sweaters and other essentials was distributed by District Police Reasi to the victims of flood and landslides at different places in Sub Division Mahore most prominent of which is Mullas, Dada and Bandi.
