LG Kavinder reiterates commitment to Ladakh’s overall development

LEH: Various delegations called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, at the LG Secretariat to discuss developmental, employment and welfare-related issues.

A delegation from Defence Research and Development Organisation – Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research (DIHAR) discussed several issues pertaining to infrastructure development. A delegation comprising National Youth Corps (NYC) workers engaged in various government departments raised several issues. A delegation of Tibetan refugees led by the Chief Representative Officer (CRO) Sonamling Settlement informed the Lt Governor about the upcoming Tibetan Losar and raised several welfare-related issues. Smt Skalzang Dolma, wife of late ASI Sonam Dorjey, requested the establishment of a memorial in the name of her late husband, who laid down his life while fighting terrorists in Srinagar in 1998. A delegation from Chuchot Gongma led by former Councillor Shri Mirza Hussain raised issues related to infrastructure development and basic amenities in the village.
A delegation from Taisuru highlighted various issues related to the development of Damsna village and the promotion of tourism activities in the area.
A delegation comprising members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad informed about a 13-day tour programme organised for 30 students from Ladakh to different states, starting from February 26. The Lt Governor assured the delegations that their issues would be looked into. He reiterated the UT Administration’s commitment to working for the overall development of the people of Ladakh so that they have access to all basic facilities.
