JAMMU: The Government on Sunday announced the conferment of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Awards, 2026. These awards are conferred each year on the eve of Republic Day in recognition of contributions made by outstanding achievers in different fields viz; Achievements in the field of Literature, performing Art, excellence in Art & Crafts, Social Reforms and Empowerment, Meritorious Public Service, Lifetime Achievement in any other field, Award for Outstanding Sports Persons, Outstanding Media Persons and Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship.
According to the order issued by M. Raju, Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department, this year, the government has conferred the award in the category of bravery to Adil Hussain Shah (Posthumously), son of Syed Hyder Shah, resident of Hapatnar, Pahalgam and Nikhil Kumar (PSI), son of Joginder Pal, resident of Swarn Nagar, Greater Kailash, Jammu
In the field of Literature, the Jammu and Kashmir Government Award, 2026 have been conferred on Yashpaul Nirmal (Dogri Litterateur), Ch. Hassan Parwaz (Gojri Litterateur), Parwaiz Manoos (Pahari Litterateur), Fayaz Dilbar (Poet) (Posthumously), Kewal Krishan Sharma (Writer/Poet), and. Rattan Lal Sharma (Writer/Editor & Translator).
Tanya Dev Gupta (Singer), 2. Anil Tickoo (Actor), Dr. Ayash Arif (Actor/Director), Abdul Hamid Bhat (Rabab Artist), Raman Singh Slathia (Dogri Folk Singer), Sunil Sharma (Singer/Music Director), Ajay Kumar Sharma (Theatre), Sudesh K. Verma (Producer/Director), and Neeraj Verma (Tabla Artist) have been conferred with award for performing Arts.
Sajjad Husain Bhat (Sozni Artisan), Bhushan Kesar (Artist/Art Educator), Mohammad Shafi Bhat (Kani Artisan), Razia Mushtaq (Artisan), and Ishfar Ali, I/c Senior Craft Instructor, Paper Pulp have been conferred with award for Excellence in Arts & Crafts.
Award for Social Reforms & Empowerment has been conferred on Arhan Bagati, Founder of KYARI (Kashmir’s Yumberzal Applied Research Institute), Home for the Aged & Infirm (Social Organization/NGO’s), Mehjabeen Nabi, President/Founder, Care Foundation & Charitable Trust, Srinagar, and Saadat Nasir Wani Sogami, Chairman, Team Red NGO, Kashmir.
Award for Meritorious Public Service have been conferred to Dr. V. S. Senthil Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, Tariq Ganai, JKAS, Managing Director, J&K Medical Supplies Corporation, Rohit Sharma, JKAS, Additional Secretary, General Administration Department, Pooja Wazir, Superintending Engineer, Public Works (R&B) Department, and Dr. (Prof.) Majid Jahangir, Principal Government Medical College, Baramulla
Award for Lifetime Achievements has been conferred to Mohammad Shafi Pandit (Retd. IAS) (Posthumously).
Aquib Nabi Dar (Cricketer), Brijesh Sharma (Cricketer), Rakesh Singh (Deaf Judo), Vishal Khajuria (Player Judo), Saleem Kumar (Wushu), Ravees Ahmad (Pencak Silat Athlete), Sudipti Khanna (Gymnastics), Mohammad Iqbal (Athlete/Coach), and Aiyza Naz Chib (Skating) have been conferred with the Award for Outstanding Sports Persons.
Avtar Krishan Bhat (Journalist), Vivek Suri (Executive Editor Digital at Himalayan Mail), Somil Abrol (Correspondent & In-Charge, PTI Video Service, Jammu Bureau), Dinesh Manhotra (Freelance Journalist), Bilal Ahmad Bhat (Bureau Chief, ANI), Inayat Jahangir (Bureau Chief, PTI), Razia Noor (Correspondent, Dainik Jagran), Sunil Ji Bhat (Deputy Editor & Jammu Bureau Head, Aaj Tak & India Today), Ishfaq Gowhar Zargar (Executive Editor, Gulistan News), Syed Khalid Hussain (Senior Special Correspondent, ZEE News), Sarosh Kafeel (Bureau Chief, Kashmir News18 JKLH), and Neeta Sharma (Senior Associate Editor, Indian Express Digital) have been conferred with the Award in the category of Outstanding Media Persons.
Award for Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship has been conferred on Mohammad Niyaz-ul-Kabir (GR8 Sports), Sheikh Yameen (Heaventure Adventures Private Limited), and Sunil Singh (Walnut Grower, Kishtwar Gold Walnut Farm.
