JAMMU: BJP J&K spokesperson Gaurav Gupta applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, calling McDonald’s India’s introduction of the Millet Bun Burger a shining example of India’s growing global influence in innovation and self-reliance.
Gupta said, “This is a historic moment that perfectly captures the spirit of Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’ mission. Under his transformative leadership, India’s traditional wisdom is being recognised by global giants. Even a multinational icon like McDonald’s is now turning Swadeshi, embracing India’s millets our ancient superfoods and showcasing how Indian innovation is shaping global trends.” He pointed out that the new McDonald’s bun contains five types of millets three major (bajra, ragi, jowar) and two minor (proso and kodo), making it a symbol of how India’s indigenous grains are entering mainstream global food culture. “This is not just a menu change, it’s a mindset change,” Gupta added. “The world is now following what India stands for: health, sustainability, and self-reliance. PM Modi’s relentless focus on promoting millets has revived an ancient Indian legacy and turned it into a modern global movement. From the farmer’s field to international food chains, this is Atmanirbhar Bharat in action.”
Gupta further emphasized that Jammu & Kashmir should take inspiration from this national success story, saying, “Our Union Territory must become a torchbearer of the Swadeshi revolution. By encouraging millet cultivation, value-added food processing, and entrepreneurship rooted in local resources, J&K can script its own success story under the Make in India framework. This model has the potential to empower rural youth, create jobs, and strengthen our local economy.”
Gupta concluded, “This is the real power of PM Modi’s leadership transforming India from a market for global brands to a source of global innovation. When global icons go Swadeshi, it’s a clear sign that the world now looks to India not just for consumption, but for inspiration.”
